How To Build INNER Strength

How To Build INNER Strength

As a coach, it’s challenging sometimes to explain to young athletes and “set in their ways” adults as to why we must do HARD things to achieve what we really want in life. Building inner strength is a skill everyone can learn and the answer to "how" we build that inner strength is simple.

Here is a great podcast episode with David Goggins and Andrew Huberman discussing their view points on that simple concept with research and life experience to back up their findings.

Here are some key pieces I took away from this conversation:

1) It starts with consistently showing up and doing the thing you REALLY don’t want to do.

2) Your perspective of failure matters. Are you learning in moments of set backs or are you allowing adversity to suppress your ambitions?

3) Take what you have and work with it. The resources for you to be the person you desire are right in front of you and they are different for everyone. Take a moment and really look for the things that can push you in the direction you want to go.

4) There is a difference between uncontrolled hardship and self inflicted hardship. Uncontrolled hardship is imperative for growth. Self inflicted hardship will be your down fall if you aren’t honest with yourself when you look in the mirror.

Tune in to hear the rest of the key take-a-ways and build your own thoughts around building inner strength. 👏🏽
